A long time ago, I designed web sites for people. First it was the graphic design & then it was the guts of the thing — the programming & database design. Those were the days when having a “site” meant something. I’m not so sure now. But I don’t design web sites anymore. Now I’m an instructional designer.
I see a lot of connections between designing experiences for learners and designing other things like information, illustrations, even ads. I’m not sure if I can pin it down but the common thread may be in the design’s usefulness, its meaning to you or how it inspires you to want to play. I think that’s why I have such a strong aversion to standard instructional design processes like ADDIE. ADDIE seems to suck that stuff out.
Graphic designer, Stefan Seigmeister, seems to capture it.
